PressRelease
The Long Road Behind’ by artist E. F. Stetz,
a retrospective of artworks created during the years 2015 – 2021. On display are 6 collections of artwork featuring 62 mixed media works spanning the museum walls. Works range in mediums from mixed media canvas works, to large scale aerosol paintings, sculptural works, and full scale mural installations. Exploring themes of figurative love, abstract surrealism, birth, death, and other various forms of appreciation for flora, fauna, and color.
The select 62 works are the only remaining of the hundreds of artworks created in this 6 year time. The missing artworks have been destroyed in various ways from being set ablaze in the deserts of the US, sculptural work that was run over by monster trucks, works exploded with dynamite, works reclaimed by the Earths elements, and canvas works that have been painted over promptly upon completion. The desire to destroy these works relates directly to a humans impermanency on this planet. There is only creation and destruction. The lifespan of these artworks is bound by the judgment of the creator. As the artist states,
“It would be injudicious to believe any artwork is forever. I prefer to speed up the process if I feel a work is not created with pure integrity. At the very least I can destroy it with honor.”
Doubling as an exhibition and book release party, ’Southbound Traveler Emanating Terrestrial Zeal’ is the new book set to release exclusively at ‘The Long Road Behind.’ Cataloging all 62 works on display with info of each artwork as well as photos of artworks that have been destroyed in the 6 year process. Within the pages are behind the scenes studio photos, poetry, and a secret message coded within the confines of the books text, sigils, and imagery.
